“In 2019 I was diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety.
For years I had suffered in silence for many reasons and never sought out the help I needed.
It took me to reach a breaking point I never experienced before to finally admit something
was wrong. Eating, sleeping, concentrating at work and just being able t
o see any positives
in my life became an immense struggle.
I learned to appreciate and accept my diagnosis and I’m constantly working to change my
naturally negative mindset. Believe me it’s not easy….
After, speaking to my therapist and searching online for ways to manage my mental health, I
participated with @runwithpurpose_org and ran, jogged, and walked my way to the 5K
finish line for the 1st time in my life.
Fast forward the present day, I am finally on the road to recovery and able to run a 5K every
weekend
🙂
Running with the boys that first day was one of the most important milestones in my
recovery, and something I wouldn’t have even attempted in 2019, when I was isolating
myself.
Let me make this clear! Mental health is not something you should be ashamed of. If you’re
not feeling well, you’re not feeling well..it’s as simple as that.
